Das Tagungsthema der 44. Kölner Mediaevistentagung »Konstellationen« lenkt die Aufmerksamkeit auf das Zusammenspiel von Ereignissen, Umständen und Situationen, wodurch das Verstehen historischer Zusammenhänge und insbesondere bestimmter Leistungen und Entwicklungen von Personen, Ideen und Theorien erst ermöglicht wird. ­Somit setzt eine Konstellation eine hinreichende Dichte des Zusammenhangs voraus und hinreichend viele Dokumente, die diesen Zusammenhang belegen und erschließen.
